Carferry PERE MARQUETTE #3 almost completely sunk in the ice on the morning of March 9, 1920 off Ludington, Michigan. It was crushed at 10 PM on March 7, 1920. The bow was held up by the ice and so had not reached bottom when this picture was taken. The carferry PERE MARQUETTE #18 waits alongside at right. The passengers of the wrecked carferry were able to walk across the ice to the #18.
