View of upper Manitowoc River from Manitowoc, Wisconsin harbor. Goodrich steamers in winter quarters in foreground. Vessel partly showing may be steamer MUSKEGON. Sidewheeler behind is steamer CHICAGO (no chartroom behind original pilot house). Rear sidewheeler is steamer SHEBOYGAN with rebuilt pilot house. In the distance is steamer VIRGINIA (after first modification) and CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS (newly acquired - still white hull, dining room not yet added on first deck). Photo taken in late 1898. (Note: This photo predates P81-65-8A. Elevator "B" was built in 1898 but the 1900 annex is not yet built.) |
