Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company workmen's safety committee, standing in front of sign which reads "Uncle Sam Says He Wants 24 Ships From Manitowoc This Year Ending Nov. 20. The old man says we have given the boys the stuff to do it with and the boys show how [blocked] it for you, Uncle Sam." Chart on chalkboard below has fields for name, tons erected, rivets driven, and total to date. Second man from left is Ed Schaefer. Circa March 1919. |
