Photographs from Captain John J. Kane 1848-1897). Captain on the Great Lakes based in Sheboygan, WI. He spent his career on various ships on the Great Lakes. When he was on the CORTLAND was severely injured when the CORTLAND collided with the steamer MORNING STAR. He worked as 2nd mate on the CORTLAND, Captain of the JOHN F. PRINCE, 1st officer on the CHANDLER J. WELLS, captain of the J.H. STEVENS, captain of the CITY OF SHEBOYGAN, mate on the STAMPEDE, captain of the GRANGER and captain of the BELLE BROWN. |
