Provenance |
From donor: "In 1976, each ship in the U.S. Navy was provided with two "Don't Tread On Me" flags to be flown on the forward Jack staff for the entire year. We had a number of ships in our command, the most noble of which was the NR-1, the deepest diving submarine in the U.S. Navy. This flag was one of those flown by NR-1 during that year. This flag was presented to me at my retirement. I am proud to present it to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum for whatever use it deems appropriate." |
